Welcome to Joan Cawley Gallery, Ltd. In 1974,
we opened White Buffalo Gallery®. We chose the name White Buffalo Gallery® because
the albino buffalo was sacred to all plains tribes. It is said that the white buffalo
was "so great a rarity that the Great Spirit must have been surprised when one was born."
Soon, White Buffalo Gallery, Inc. distinguished itself for its unique Native American,
Western and Southwestern artwork and sculpture.
By the early 1980's, it was decided to personalize the company and our name was changed
to Joan Cawley Gallery, Ltd. In November, 1983, Joan Cawley Gallery opened on Main Street
in Scottsdale, Arizona. As one of Scottsdale's oldest and most popular galleries our
knowledgeable staff and our unique stable of artists continue to provide collectors the
"Best of the West." Exclusive contemporary artists create original paintings in oil,
acrylic and watercolor; sculpture in bronze, ceramic, steel and gourd all celebrate the
diversity of our land, its spirit and its many cultures.
